We've spent years defending our selfish views and postulations of right and wrong
Years hiding in our pride out of fear that we may be exposed
Years in abandonment
We've given everything, to become anything, except for who we are
Given our souls in hopes of acceptance
Given our faith in exchange for an empty reliance on man
We've cursed in the face of God
We've spit at the feet of the cross
We've found satisfaction and reprieve within our pride
A pride that hides us from the loving high of the Lords embrace
A pride that crushes and abandons those we hold near to our hearts
A pride that rules our faith
A pride that rules our walk
Our minds,
Our hearts,
Our souls,
We've spent years trying to restructure our lives with these imperfect hands
Years in the dark
Years in abandonment
"Seek the LORD, all you humble of the land, you who do what he commands.
Seek righteousness, seek humility;
Perhaps you will be sheltered on the day of the LORD's anger."
(Zephaniah 2:3)
